A smart approach to combine low power consumption and costs with high performance.

Satisfying the need - the need for speed.

MIMAX Project

IHP Microelectronics

Innovations for High-Performance Microelectronics

The IHP has a team of 204 R&D professionals with core competence in micro-electronics: process technology, circuit design, and systems. As a member institute of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Society, the core funding comes from the German Federal Government and the State Government of Brandenburg.
The institute aims at establishing the region of East-Brandenburg as a high-tech region and to create jobs through innovation. Therefore IHP uses its R&D to enhance the competitiveness of German and European businesses and works closely with the Federal and State Governments to attract international companies to the region.

Tasks in this project

Within the MIMAX project IHP will work on special RF-modules, especially phase-shifters as well as baseband and MAC processors. The availability of a big set of pre-developed modules will allow them to concentrate on the control vector generation, the innovative part of MIMAX.

Experience

The institute is focussed on developing innovative solutions for wireless communication. Its expertise ranges from system- and circuit-design to the implementation and optimisation of protocol stacks and the development of system-enabling CMOS compatible technology modules. IHP has long years experience in wireless systems research especially RF-component design, baseband processor design and Macprocessor design. The idea of a vertical system model stimulates the work on cross layer aspects.
